Chairman Parsons Receives Top Rank on Georgia Chamber's Scorecard

ATLANTA - House Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications Chairman Don Parsons (R-East Cobb) received the highest-ranking score on the 2012 Georgia Chamber of Commerce Legislative Scorecard.

Legislation deemed most important to enhancing Georgia's economic competitiveness were designated as scorecard issues by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Council. Each legislator's grade reflects an assessment of his or her support for business community priorities.

"I am honored to receive the highest scorecard rank from the state’s largest business advocacy organization.” said Chairman Parsons. “Creating jobs is the single most important issue we face today. Working to ensure Georgia is the most job-friendly, entrepreneur-friendly, and investment-friendly state is at the heart of my efforts as a legislator and I am pleased to work alongside the Georgia Chamber in pursuing a competitive agenda for our state."

Among many pro-business initiatives Representative Parsons has championed was a bill to exempt the sales tax on energy used in manufacturing. This critical piece of legislation passed this year and was signed into law by Governor Deal. The new law has already made Georgia

more competitive and has resulted in the creation of good paying manufacturing jobs for Georgians.
